AYSA Travel Softball - Alpharetta Fire

The AYSA Travel Fast Pitch Program offers opportunities for dedicated, committed and skilled players from 9 to 18 years old.

  • Tryout times for Travel Teams vary, but are often held in August and November - contact coaches for more information (see below)

  • Each travel team manages their own playing schedule.

  • Generally speaking, Travel teams practice 2-3 times a week and play in 1 to 3 weekend tournaments a month. (The tournament schedule and location of play is decided on by the travel team manager).

  • Financial commitments generally range from $600 - $1000 per season.

  • Most travel teams require each player to participate in individual, weekly lessons (hitting, pitching, catching, conditioning, etc.).

Field Requests for AYSA coaches (field requests can be made up to 7 days in advance - fieldrequest@alpharettasoftball.com)

  • Age Groups  - age is determined by age of player on Dec. 31st of current year. It is highly recommended that players play with the appropriate team based on birth year. See specific team/coach information above.
  • Tryouts - All players must attend tryouts in order to be considered for the team. During tryouts skill level will evaluated. This is a TRYOUT, please prepare your player accordingly. Travel teams will have a call-back date after the tryouts for those players making the first cut. Tryouts will be completed prior to the Recreational evaluations; therefore providing the option to players not making a team to participate evaluations. Travel is a year long commitment (August through July) and tryouts will be held in August. Additional tryouts may be conducted in November/January dependent on team needs.
  • Time Commitment

    • Tournaments: The number and location of tournaments is determined by each coach.
      • Spring - average 9+ tournaments and possibly a World Series in July/August
      • Fall - average 4+ tournaments (10U and 12U), older age groups may participate in 2+ tournaments after the High School softball season is complete.
    • Player Lessons: Players should be taking weekly private lessons (i.e. pitching, catching, hitting, conditioning, etc.).
  • Financial Commitment - Fees will be dependent on uniform costs, indoor practice costs, number of games, number of tournaments, etc. General guidelines are $600 - $1000.
