AYSA Girls Recreational Softball - Alpharetta Softball

AYSA's Recreational Softball program offers girls softball for ages 4-18 in the Spring (January-May) and ages 6-18 in the Fall (August-November). This program is for girls of all skill levels.

  • All games and practices are held at North Park.

  • This league is recreational, providing the girls the opportunity to participate in a team sport, develop/improve playing skills and instill good sportsmanship.

  • Coaches will be selected by the AYSA Board - Spring selection (January), Fall selection (August)

  • 'Special Request' will ONLY be accepted during evaluations (do not email requests). A Special Request form, available at the check-in table at evaluations, must be completed by a parent/legal guardian. Special Requests are not guaranteed.

Recreational Softball Program Details
  • Age Groups  - age is determined by age of player on Dec. 31st of current year.
    • Spring - 6U (ages 4-6), 8U (ages 7-8), 10U (ages 9-10), 12U (ages 11-12), 13+(ages 13-18)
    • Fall - 8U (ages 6-8), 10U (ages 9-10), 12U (ages 11-12), 13+ (ages 13-18)
  • Equipment
    • Required Equipment: cleats (no metal cleats), glove, pitchers must wear face mask or mouth guard
    • Optional Equipment: bat (ASA certified), batting helmet with faceguard and chin strap, face mask or mouth guard (highly recommended) for all positions, black pants.
    • AYSA program will provide the team with team bats, batting helmets (with faceguards and chin straps), and catcher's equipment (if needed).
  • Evaluations - All players must attend evaluations prior to the start of every season. During evaluations, skill level will be evaluated, uniform sizes will be verified, and any special requests will be collected. 
    • Spring evaluations will be conducted in January.
    • Fall evaluations will be conducted in August.
  • Time Commitment
    • Location: All practices and games will be played at North Park. 
    • Pre-Season: Teams will be scheduled 1 weeknight practice and 1 Saturday practice per week. NOTE: coaches may elect to hold additional practices if field space is available.
      • Spring preseason runs end-of-January to beginning-of-March.
      • Fall preseason runs end-of-August to beginning-of-September.
    • Regular Season: Teams will be scheduled 1 weeknight game or practice and 1 or 2 Saturday games (depending of number of teams in age group). NOTE: coaches may elect to hold additional practices if field space is available.
      • Spring season will consist of approximately 10-12 games and will run March with an end-of-season tournament ending in May. All games will be completed prior to the end of the school year.
      • Fall season will consist of 8-10 games, the season will conclude with an end-of-season tournament ending in early November.
  • Financial Commitment - Fees are determined in May of each year
    • Spring Season - $100 (6U), $115 (8U), $135 (10U, 12U, 13+)
    • Fall Season  - $125 all age groups
    • NOTE: Fees above are for ALPHARETTA AND MILTON CITY RESIDENTS. The City of Alpharetta requires AYSA to collect a non-resident fee of 75% of the program cost from players not residing in the cities of Alpharetta or Milton. This money is paid directly to the City of Alpharetta.
